The Lovebirds Collection

Italy was never on the travel list for my grandparents. Living in the Soviet Union, the concept of honeymooning or traveling beyond the borders of their own country wasn’t a realistic idea. There was no out. That’s why the fight to free Soviet Jewry included massive political demonstrations throughout America - and the world - in the 1980s. The eventual lifting of the Iron Curtain to strip Jews of their citizenship, and allow them to leave the USSR with refugee status was historic.  That began our immigration journey.

Collection coming soon.

My grandparents - and parents - sold all of their belongings. They packed their entire lives into a few suitcases.  They then got on a train to Vienna where they stopped for just a few days before journeying on to Ladispoli, Italy.  Throughout my childhood, I got a front-row seat to their post-Soviet journey.  Whatever they did, they did it together.  In their retirement years, they finally were able to see the world - including a trip to Australia.  But mostly they dedicated their lives to us.  My childhood was replete with weekly sleepovers, my grandfather picking me up from school, shuttling me to activities, and filling our fridge with food every time they could.  No matter what they did, my grandmother never forgot to remind me: “What did we do all this for? For you”  and my grandfather would just chuckle at her from afar.

Opening ws-fiori is a dream of bringing the elegance of our custom events to everyone.

“Lovebirds” honors the duo that always held our family together.

It feels right to honor my - and my family’s - journey in this new venture.
